Ward’s heavy-lidded cover of Joanna Newsom’s “Sadie” appears on Versions of Joanna, a 22-track tribute comp that also features Owen Pallett, Billy Bragg, Ben Sollee, and Josh Mann of Australia’s Paper Arms, re-doing tracks by the harp queen. Ward’s take doesn’t pack the same emotional wallop as the Milk-Eyed Mender original, but he gets the job done.
